Tourist & Recreation Council, Michigan. Contracted to develop a Self-Guiding
Auto Tour CD for the Allegan County Heritage Driving Tour, a 100 mile + driving route
which encircles the County, interpreting its cultural and natural history.
Huron-Clinton Metroparks,
Indian Springs Metropark, White Lake, Michigan. Conduct a interpretive exhibit
planning focus workshop for the new Environmental Education Building, currently under
construction. November, 2003.
Malta (Maltese Islands)Tourism Authority. JVA was contracted to conduct a
5 day interpretive Master Planning Course, and provide other interpretive consultation
services for a variety of different agency representatives, from Heritage Malta to Tourism

Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, Alexandria, Virginia.
Conduct an evaluation of their Water works wonders! Mobile Marketing Tour exhibition
(travels by semi-truck to county fairs, etc.), November, 2003.
Norfolk Tourism in Association with the Norfolk Tourist Attractions
Association, England. Provide an Interpretive Master Planning workshop for
regional tourism partners, sites and attractions. September, 2003.
Snowdonia National Park Training Center, Wales, UK. Develop and teach an
Advanced Interpretive Master Planning Course - offered Internationally. The course will
cover feasibility analysis, media planning and contracting, interpretive site marketing
strategies, and evaluation strategies and techniques. September 9-11th, 2003.
Michigan State University Kellogg Biological Station, Hickory
Corners, Michigan. Developed a new self-guiding trail plan and booklet for the
"Succession Self-guiding Interpretive Trail".
Praters Mill Foundation,
Dalton, GA. Provide a critique and consultation services for the Praters Mill marketing
strategies and marketing/promotion materials. August, 2003.
Flag Ponds Nature Park (Calvert County Parks, MD). Develop an
Interpretive Master Plan for Flag Ponds Nature Park, and an associated property, located

US Army Corps of Engineers, Kinzua Dam, Warren PA. Provide consultation
on Visitor Center Exhibit Planning and Design. July, 2003. Contracted to develop the Big
Bend Visitor Center and Kinzua Dam and Allegheny Reservoir Interpretive Master Plan -
August, 2003.
Pawhuska Community Foundation, Pawhuska, OK. Develop the "return
trip" CD for The Tallgrass Prairie Legacy self-guiding Auto tour, from the Nature
Conservancy Tallgrass Prairie preserve to Pawhuska.
City of Kettering, Ohio, Parks and Recreation Department. Develop
interpretive plans for Pondview Park and Southdale Nature Center and Park. These
parks/facilities are being developed in a grant partnership with the Kettering Schools as
part of a new Land Lab Learning Center project. Project completed January, 2003.
English Nature. Provide
a keynote address for the English Nature April 2003 conference (in Buxton, England) on the
role of interpretation in developing and marketing English Nature's mission. English
Nature manages 213 National Nature Reserves throughout England. You can visit their web

The National Trust of England, Wales and N. Ireland. Conduct an
evaluation of interpretation at Penrhyn Castle, a National Trust Wales site located in

Dalton, Georgia. Provide an interpretive planning workshop for the Foundation, and other
City of Dalton heritage sites (funded by a grant from North Georgia Electric), March,
2003.
State University of West Georgia,
Heritage Tourism Institute. Provide institute workshop sessions for the March 2003 and
August 2003 Tourism Institute. Institute workshops sessions for 2003 include:
"Packaging your Tourism Product" & "Increasing Heritage Tourism
Success".

National Park, Scotland. Provide an interpretive training workshop to parks

The Ohio Rail Development
Commission. Legacy Services and John Veverka & Associates were selected to
conduct a heritage tourism assessment of approximately 26 heritage railroad
sites/facilities in Ohio, as Phase I of a project to develop a tourism marketing
plan/strategy for participating railroad heritage sites by June, 2004.

US Army Corps of Engineers -
New Orleans District, LA. Provide a two day Interpretive Planning training course
focusing in Interpretive Center Planning and Regional Interpretive Planning. June, 2003.
US Army Corps of Engineers -
Interpretive Services Course. JVA was awarded the contract to teach the annual
Interpretive Services Training Course for the Corps through 2006. The contract also calls
for rewriting/updating the course training manual, lesson plans, and all course handouts
in 2004. Training courses for 2004 will be in February at the COE National Training
Center, Huntsville, Alabama.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo,
Cleveland, Ohio. Provide interpretive exhibit evaluation services to the exhibit
planning/design team for the zoo's new Animal Health Care Center exhibit project.
The Chester Zoo, Chester, England.
Conduct a three-day interpretation workshop/seminar covering a variety of subjects from
interpretive planning to marketing interpretive services, to interpretive media pre-post
testing evaluation and visitor surveys. September, 2003.
Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network
- a system of parks, refuges, museums, historic sites and communities, and water trails in
the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Managed by many different partners, these sites each tell a
part of the Bay story. The National Park Service coordinates the Gateways Network in
partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Program and all of the partner sites. JVA will provide
a variety of interpretive planning, training and individual site interpretive consultation
services for the Network over the next year in an open-ended contract. For more

City of Rockford, IL. Contracted to conduct an analysis of heritage
tourism site directional signage from key highway "gateways" into Rockford,
recommend signage design needs/standard, use of heritage site icons, and integration of
directional signage system into the mainstream tourism marketing materials. Project to
begin in October 20, 2003
