Korean National Park Authority and Exhibit Planning
Companies, ( SigongTech, EXCO, and Digital Kookyoung Co., Ltd).
JVA, in association with Dr. Ju-Hee Lee, Teagu University, has been
contracted to present several Interpretive Exhibit Planning workshops sponsored by the
agencies and exhibit firms noted above. Workshops were conducted at Mt. Chiri and Sorak National
Parks, and at other locations, August 4 - 12, 2004, in South Korea.
28th Annual Southeastern State Parks Program Seminar, November
29th - December 3rd, 2004, Pine Mountain State Resort Park, Kentucky. Contracted to
present two 1/2 day seminars (Interpretive Program Planning and Interpretive Planning for
Outdoor Panels and Nature Center Exhibits) for the SSPPS.
Preble County Historical Society,
Eaton, Ohio. Develop an Interpretive Master Plan for the 200 acre+ site that
includes historic buildings, natural areas, interpretive trails, exhibits building and
proposed new Interpretive Center and Environmental Education Area. June - September

Wye Grist Mill, MD. Interpretive
planning focus workshop session and development consultation. July 2004. Built
in 1671 this small mill has a remarkable history including supplying grain to the George
Washington's Continental Army (1775-1783). Big stories sometimes come in small
packages.

Pemberton Historical Park, Salisbury, MD. Interpretive planning
focus workshop session for the park, as part of the NPS Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network
consultation service. March, 2004.
April 27th - 28th, Interpretation for the new millennium - an
interpretive training experience. Presented by John Veverka & Associates and
Interpretive Concepts Inc. This two-day course presented the state-of-the-art in
interpretation planning and design, with hands-on experiences in interpretive planning for
exhibits and outdoor panels. Host site was the Lowry Park Zoo, Tampa, Florida.
Norfolk Tourism, Norfolk, England. Conduct a variety
of interpretive training workshops and site visits/critiques for regional Norfolk heritage
sites/attractions, coordinated by Norfolk Tourism. May 2004.
Chester Zoo, Chester, England.
Conducted a three-day interpretive training course. This course was held at the zoo,
and open to other zoos and wildlife parks/attractions throughout the UK. September,
2004.
Snowdonia National Park Training
Center, Wales. Conducted a 3-day course on "Interpretive Master
Planning", May, 2004. Conducted a 3-day course on "Planning and
Design for Interpretive Panels", September, 2004.
Oil Heritage Region, Inc,
Oil City, PA. JVA, serving as a sub-contractor to ICON Architecture
(http://www.iconarch.com) will provide the interpretive planning review for the Update of
Management Action Plan for the Oil Heritage Region.
The National Trust of N. Ireland - Castle Ward. JVA was recently
contracted to develop the interpretive master plan for this large castle and estate.

Canada and World Pavilion,
Ottawa, Canada. Provide a course on Interpretive Exhibit Planning, and
provide related interpretive exhibit planning consultation services. April, 2004.
Jefferson Patterson
Park & Museum, St. Leonard, Maryland (Maryland Dept. of Housing and Community
Development, Division of Historical and Cultural Programs). Develop an Interpretive

Allegan County
Tourist & Recreation Council, Michigan. Contracted to develop a
Self-Guiding Auto Tour CD for the Allegan County Heritage Driving Tour, a 100 mile +
driving route which encircles the County, interpreting its cultural and natural history.
US Army Corps of Engineers - Interpretive Services Course. JVA was
awarded the contract to teach the annual Interpretive Services Training Course for
the Corps through 2006. The contract also calls for rewriting/updating the course
training manual, lesson plans, and all course handouts in 2004. Training courses for
2004 will be in February and March at the COE National Training Center, Huntsville,
Alabama.
Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network
- a system of parks, refuges, museums, historic sites and communities, and water trails in
the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Managed by many different partners, these sites each
tell a part of the Bay story. The National Park Service coordinates the Gateways
Network in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Program and all of the partner sites.
JVA will provide a variety of interpretive planning, training and individual site
interpretive consultation services for the Network over the next several years in an

Fells Point Maritime Museum ( a satellite museum of the Maryland
Historical Society) Fells Point, Maryland.. As part of the NPS Chesapeake Bay Gateways Program, provide an interpretive
planning and focus workshop session, with emphasis on objective based, and theme based
interpretive exhibit planning. April, 2004.
New York State Governor's Tourism
Conference, 28 September - 1 October, 2004, Lake Placid, New York.
Invited speaker to present a session on regional interpretive/heritage tourism assessment
strategies for developing regional "mass customization" marketing and
heritage tourism product development.
Calvert County Parks, MD.
Develop several pre-production interpretive panel designs (text and
layout) for the park system (Spring 2004).
Republic of Slovenia, National Environmental Agency.
JVA was asked to present an interpretive training workshop on an
introduction to interpretation and interpretive media planning and design strategies.
The training course was presented September6-8th, 2004. Over 100 participants
attended the first day general session with approximately 40 participants for the total
